The Racing arm of EBC Brakes will have a significant presence at the 2020 legs of this hugely popular UK race series

EBC Brakes Racing will become the Official Brake Partner of 2020’s Bute Motorsport GT Cup Championship, it was announced on Thursday (27 February) at the series’ season launch day at Kent’s Brands Hatch Circuit.

The firm is currently in talks with some of the teams from the championship to supply them with braking components throughout the year. If your team would like to discuss the option of using EBC Brakes Racing products, please email tracksupport@ebcbrakes.com.

Founded in 2007 by the late motorsport pioneer, Marc Haynes, the GT Cup Championship quickly developed a name as one of the most premium GT sprint series in the UK and beyond, proud of the particularly friendly and driver-centred ethos it’s actively maintained over the years.

Now boasting no less than six categories to ensure a notably broad grid in every race, the GT Cup welcomes race cars from GTA through to GT3 classification, as well as everything in-between.

The series takes racers to some of the most prestigious circuits in the country, with a demanding race format that includes a 25-minute sprint race and 50-minute pit-stop race on each day of action.

With such a respected reputation, it’s little wonder that the GT Cup has attracted manufacturer support in recent years, in the form of driver programmes that have helped countless participants go directly on to championships such as British GT, Blancpain GT and WEC.

James Hallett, Group CEO of EBC Brakes, commented on the newly-formed partnership: “Becoming the Official Brake Partner of such a well-respected and significant UK race series as the GT Cup will be great for us. We feel the championship is the perfect match for EBC Brakes Racing, as both parties take motorsport very seriously indeed.”

Hannah James, Bute Motorsport’s Championship Director, was also positive about the news: “We are all very excited to welcome EBC Brakes Racing as one of our new partnerships for the 2020 GT Cup Championship. The season launch day is the perfect opportunity to announce this fantastic opportunity and we look forward to a very exciting future together.”
