Shaun Jenkinson has been synonymous with the British side x side racing scene for several years now, piloting Polaris-badged machinery to impressive results in the national SXS Racing championship.
Recently competing within the 1000 Expert class in his high-powered Polaris RS1, Jenkinson began testing EBC Brakes components at the end of the 2019 season, hoping to put them to the test in a competitive fashion once the 2020 season kicks of post-lockdown.
Below are his initial thoughts on EBC’s side x side brake discs and pads…
“I would like to thank EBC Brakes for their support in the upcoming race season. After testing EBC Brakes on my Polaris RS1 at the end of last season, I was blown away with how much difference their products made to the braking efficiency on my buggy.
“Here in the UK, a lot of racers run 12” wheels to be able to run smaller-sized tyres, to help with acceleration. To do this, we have to convert the brakes to smaller discs and pads so that they fit under the smaller wheels.
“Running the smaller discs and pads reduces the braking efficiency, so when EBC offered to help out I was really excited. The materials used in my EBC pads and discs are specifically designed for race applications and are a massive step above the standard Polaris parts.
“These are better than the full-size Polaris brakes. The feel of the brakes gave me so much confidence that I was able to brake so much later into corners.
“I would definitely recommend to any serious off-road racer the EBC line of products as they are levels above the standard OEM Polaris setup.”
