The young rider uses EBC Brakes’ GPFAX sintered brake pads on his BMW S1000RR race machine

It was an extremely promising start to the year for BMCRC Powerbikes racer, Anthony Johnson, at the debutant round of the series at Brands Hatch on 7-8 March.

Piloting his yet-to-be-liveried BMW S1000RR to a comfortable overall win in Saturday’s Race 1, an incorrect tyre choice in Sunday’s Race 2 saw him qualify in 17th position, with a lot of catching up to do.

Here’s how the weekend went down in his own words…

“At the Bemsee Brands Hatch Indy round this weekend – with stock calipers and EBC’s GPFAX race pads – I qualified on pole and won Saturday’s opening Powerbikes race, by an impressive 6.593 seconds, which was a great start.

“After winning the opening championship race on Saturday, and with some solid lap times, I was looking forward to Sunday’s racing. But, unfortunately, the wrong last-minute tyre choice when it rained made things hard – coming from 17th on the grid. So I was happy to get 4th overall to be honest!

“Nevertheless, my EBC Brakes GPFAX pads worked perfectly, as always, with a great feeling from them in both the wet and the dry conditions.

“Looking forward to some decent weather and hopefully some more wins…”

GPFAX Sintered Road Race Brake Pads

EBC GPFAX Sintered Road Race Brake Pads
The GPFAX Formula Sintered Race pads are a direct replacement of the GPFA series. This formula is even higher in friction and created specifically to be used only on asphalt surfaces such as those found in race track conditions. Because of the super performance that they provide, these brake pads are a growing favourite choice of superbike racers. Another benefit of the GPFAX sintered material is that it now has even better heat cycling ability allowing the brake pads to be raced, cooled, then raced again.
