- Fully floating 2-piece rotor that allows outer ring to expand freely in response to heat. This reduces stress which in turn extends rotor life and reduces the tendency for rotor cracking during extreme use.
- Drive bobbins machined from a single piece of stainless steel giving maximum strength and corrosion resistance. Stainless bobbins reduce the requirement for regular disc maintenance and ensures the outer ring continues to float freely even when used on the public road with corrosive salts and other road grime.
- Each bobbin assembly features an anti-rattle spring clip ensuring silent operation when driving on the public highway
- Rotor rings feature 48 directional internal curved vanes for improved rotor coolin
- Friction rings are cast from high carbon G3500 alloy giving excellent wear properties and improved thermal capacity. All EBC disc rings are cast using the ‘centre split’ casting method, ensuring a balanced casting that will not distort under high heat, an issue common with cheaper ‘moulded out’ castings.
- Unique Swept Groove slot design for effective evacuation of braking dust and gasses whilst ensuring good initial ‘bite’ on brake apply
- Replacement disc rings for EBC floating rotors are significantly less expensive than our major competitors.
Great results for EBC superbike racers with GPFAX brake pads
EBC sponsored superbike racers have been continuing to gain great results recently mostly using GPFAX brake pads. Here are the late July race reports:
Cormac Conroy gained some great and important results recently when he raced in rounds 10 & 11 of the Irish Classic Superbike Championship at Mondello Park on Saturday 18th. He was riding his Batteryworld Kawasaki ZXR750 equipped with EBC race only GPFAX brake pads to provide him with the best possible control on the track.
The morning qualification round couldn’t of been better with Cormac gaining pole position with his battery operated bike running to it’s full potential, having the most optimum suspension as set by his efficient team. Cormac not only recorded his fastest lap but also won both races making for an excellent day of racing. The results were of great help to Cormac as his needed to make up for three rounds of lost injury time from earlier this season. Cormac will be racing next at the Leinster 200 event at Mondello Park on 1st and 2nd of August 2015.
Maria Costello MBE
Meanwhile, in the racing world of Maria Costello MBE, she has gained a fabulous fourth place finish at the Walderstown Race of the South in Ireland. Riding her Kawasaki ER6 ‘Pizzarace bike’ equipped with EBC GPFAX race only brake pads, fitted for super grippy performance, Maria claimed the top ten position in the Supertwins race. This great result has occurred just over a month since Maria was racing in the Isle of Man TT.
Maria’s excellent weekend of racing began when she qualified in seventh place, giving her a second row start on the rain soaked track at Walderstown. After a restart when the red flag went down, on a much dryer track Maria got off to a good launch and settled into 5th position for the shortened six lap race. During lap 3 Maria moved up into fourth place when she passed Alan Kenny and remained in the same position until she passed the chequered flag at the finish of the 6th lap.
On the race Maria quoted:
It’s been an emotional weekend for me after the tragic death of Dr John Hinds. I didn’t know if I would be able to compete without the flying doctor by our sides. This finish is dedicated to John and all the medical team who do such amazing work here at the road races. I have to thank Kev Corbally for doing, as always, a grand job preparing the bike at the meeting and supporting me throughout. Thanks to the organisers for giving me additional scrub laps which enabled me to fully bed the bike in. It was faultless during the race.
Being part of the parade lap to honour Dr John was hugely moving and I have never felt more motivated to make his dying wish of an Air Ambulance a reality. I’ll also be making sure I give blood at the next opportunity and I urge everyone to do the same.
Special thanks go out to the MCUI Medical team, the organisers, all the marshals and volunteers who make these road races possible and the fabulous crowd who turned out to support the event.
Maria’s Women’s Only Motorcycle Trackdays at Donington Park
On Wednesday 15th July, a record number of women attended Maria Costello’s women only motorcycle trackday at Donington Park. This was the second event run by Maria Costello MBE and saw over 60 women riders ranging from complete newcomers to those with existing experience, all taking advantage of the expert coaching on hand from Maria herself and her team of instructors.
A delighted Maria quoted:
It was an absolutely fantastic day and brilliant to see so many women taking to the track. Seeing them all make amazing progress is so rewarding but that is what the day is all about. The atmosphere was fabulous, it was great to see so many returning riders on track and lots of new ones too. I would love to encourage even more women onto the track at my next event on the 14th October. I have to say that I couldn’t have done these events without the support of Donington Park, so thanks to all the team there.

Phil Morris Racing
The Phil Morris Racing team had a highly entertaining weekend at the Mallory Park Bike Bonanza, when star of the show and 23 times TT winner John McGinness used the team’s ART MotoGP 12 bike to demonstrate some impressive wheelies to the bumper crowds. The Phil Morris team also rely on GPFAX sintered race only brake pads for their racing needs and to give great results.
After three laps with the track to himself, John was joined by an impressive array of bikes for the Past Masters parade where another of the Phil Morris racing bikes, the 2002 TT winning V&N Yamaha R6 of Jim Moodie was ridden by Lee Heeson.
Once again the Bike Bonanza attracted a who’s who of bike racers past and present, with John McGuinness joined by Michael Rutter, Michael Dunlop, Trevor Nation, Ray McCullough, Paul Smart, John Cooper, Rex Butcher, John Reynolds, Sammy Miller, Les Trotter, Colin Seeley, Steve Parrish, Mick Grant, Ian Hutchinson and too many others to list.
There was one other group that Phil Morris was keen to thank and that was his own team members. As well as the riders, John McGuinness, Lee Heeson, Alex Smith and Tommy Robb they include Alan Jones, Nigel Watts, Terry Brook, Steve Griffiths and Derek Smith, Clerk of the Course at Aberdare Park Road Races who is now managing sponsorship matters for the team.
The Phil Morris Racing team will be back in action on July 25th and 26th at Aberdare Park Road Races with John McGuinness and Tommy Robb in attendance once again along with an array of the team’s iconic racing machinery.
Following the event, team principal Phil Morris commented:
It was really gratifying to get so many members of the public coming up to us and saying ‘thanks for all the entertainment’. As always, though, we also have to thank a lot of people including sponsors EBC Brakes for their continued support.
Issued 14th July 2015

The GPFAX Formula Sintered Race pads are a direct replacement of the GPFA series. This formula is even higher in friction and created specifically to be used only on asphalt surfaces such as those found in race track conditions. Because of the super performance that they provide these brake pads are a growing favourite choice of superbike racers.
Another benefit of the GPFAX sintered material is that it now has even better heat cycling ability allowing the brake pads to be raced, cooled, then raced again.

EBC Organic motorcycle brake pads are Europe’s first and only ECE R90 approved brake pad. Manufactured at EFI in Bristol, these brake pads perform as well as any sintered pads, as proved by R90 compliance. This ‘aramid’ series has now been renamed Non-Asbestos Organic or NAO and is created from aramid fibre in conjunction with other high tech modern fibres. If you want a value for money all round brake pad replacement then the NAO series is the perfect choice for all levels of motorcycle and is very popular with many riders who prefer the “feel” of organic pads.
