Trio of Suzuki GSX-R 1000 racers will compete with EBC Brakes products throughout the 2021 season

Buckinghamshire-based MSG Racing has been an established name in the motorcycle racing paddock for almost two decades, covering various large national series with some very well-known riders over the years.

Campaigning mainly in the Thundersport GB championship for 2021, the outfit will once again use EBC Brakes’ high-performance discs and pads on its trio of race-prepped Suzuki GSX-R 1000 machines, ridden by Chris Curtis, Sam Osborne and Will Harper.

The team give us a brief history of their successes in their own words below.

“MSG Racing formed as a race team in 2002, alongside Gavin Reed’s then-small motorcycle repair business, working from home since 1999.

“From national club racing to British Superbikes as well as racing in Spain, Gavin set out to help chosen riders on the way to achieve their racing dream, leading to over 50 club championships and some of the lads moving on to British Superbikes and the Isle of Man TT.”

“Today’s riders are all established MSG-supported riders and have been working with the team for several seasons now. All three are racing the latest model Suzuki GSX-R 1000 machines prepared and maintained by MSG Racing. For 2021, we have Chris Curtis, Sam Osborne and Will Harper in the 1000cc GP1 class with Thundersport GB. We are all looking forward to the season ahead and working with EBC and their great braking products.

“Full team members are Will Harper, Chris Curtis, Sam Osborne, John ‘Snowy’ Chapman and Gavin Reed, along with much appreciated support from others both on and off track.

“Back at the workshop, race prep and dyno tuning is carried out by Gavin and Daniel Diamond (also a racer himself when possible).

“None of what we do would be possible without the help of some amazing working partners. Bring on the 2021 race season and let’s add to the championship tally…”

The MSG Racing riders use the following EBC Brakes products on track:

Floating MC Rotors

X and XC Floating MC rotors are the lightest rotors you can buy, they will eliminate all your vibration problems and last longer than conventional rotors using round button technology. Both designs further reduce weight by using only six drive buttons. This further reduces the unit weight by up to 300 grammes.

GPFAX Formula Sintered Race pads

The GPFAX Formula Sintered Race pads are a direct replacement of the GPFA series. This formula is even higher in friction and created specifically to be used only on asphalt surfaces such as those found in race track conditions. Because of the super performance that they provide, these brake pads are a growing favourite choice of superbike racers. Another benefit of the GPFAX sintered material is that it now has even better heat cycling ability allowing the brake pads to be raced, cooled, then raced again.

EBC Double-H™ Sintered Superbike Brake Pads

Double-H™ Sintered Superbike Brake Pads deliver high performance and are well known as the EBC flagship sintered streetsport brake pad. Manufactured in the US in the state-of-the-art sintering plant in Ohio, they perform well in all weather conditions be it dry or wet and have a high longevity lasting for many miles.
