Ever had an urge to ditch the nine-to-five grind and explore the wonders of the world? While most of us have had these thoughts cross our minds at one point or another, actually doing something about it is a whole different story.
It’s exactly what London-based photographer ‘GodZoo’ here did a few years back, though, with some life-changing events seeing him purchase a motorcycle and camera and head out to discover exactly what our diverse planet really is all about.
Crossing into Europe and with the weeks quickly turning into months, GodZoo soon covered almost a quarter of a million miles on his trusty Honda CBF 1000 Africa Twin adventure motorcycle, spanning over 40 countries whilst sleeping in nothing but a small bivy sack each night.
GodZoo’s relationship with EBC Brakes began as he entered Africa, noticing his brake pads needed replacing as he approached Dakar.
“As you would expect, finding brake pads for a 2018 Africa Twin here would not be easy. One bike shop did have an old, used set of EBC Double-H pads with about 1.5mm of material remaining… I had no choice but to put them on my bike.
“What is utterly mind-blowing is that those pads then took me across the entire length of Gambia twice, across the whole western Sahara Desert, through Senegal, Mauritania and Morocco, as well as keeping me going through two weeks’ riding around the Atlas Mountains. The same pads then brought me all the way home through Spain, France and finally back to London!
“I will never use any other brand of brake pad again. I am EBC for life now.”
Although he’s back home for now, GodZoo is already planning his next mission – a 90,000-mile jaunt across 38 countries with nothing but wild camping as accommodation the entire way.
This time around, GodZoo will not only be using EBC Brakes’ Double-H sintered brake pads, but also the firm’s much-loved high-performance floating X-Series discs, for the optimum braking setup in all conditions.
Stay tuned to hear how he gets on…
