British Army mechanic, Richard Spencer-Fleet, has competed in the Ducati TriOptions series on his Panigale V2 race bike since 2018 – a combined effort between his privateer RSF Racing team and the Army Motorcycle Road Race outfit.
Spencer-Fleet has been proudly supported by EBC Brakes throughout his successful endeavours in this championship.
With some time on his hands due to the Covid-19 situation putting a stop to all racing at the start of 2020, he decided to offer a detailed review on the EBC GPFAX race pads and X-Series floating discs he uses, following a four-day track day at Spain’s Cartagena Circuit earlier this year, which can be read below…
“We managed to get four days at Cartagena Circuit in Spain with the best track day company around, No Limits Trackdays. Having checked the brake pads every day there, thought I’d do a review when I got back.
“The braking system and pads are an imperative part to get right, just like the tyres. This is the second season now that we’ve been supported by EBC for both discs and pads.
“So, a quick lowdown on my braking system: I run a standard Brembo master, HEL Performance brake lines, Motul RBF 700 brake fluid, EBC Brakes discs and EBC Brakes GPFAX pads.
“The GPFAX pads offer an incredibly positive bite when you hit the brakes. I ran one set of pads for the entire four days! They never lost efficiency and were great straight out of the packet.
“I ran them last year in a whole range of temperatures and in the wet, and they have never let me down. They lasted incredibly well over the four days. Just look at the photos: a new set of pads on the Vernier measured 16mm. The set that was used for four days’ hard testing measured 15mm! A whole 1mm of meat was used… and they still have loads to go!
“If you are ever looking for pads, as a road rider, track day enthusiast or racer, be sure to give EBC Brakes a go. Thanks again for the support!”
