Superstock 1000 rider had positive things to say about EBC’s high-performance motorcycle brake pads

Doncaster-based Dean Hipwell has spent the last few years racing in the Superstock 1000 class of the fabled Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB), already securing two top-five finishes within this time.

Riding with his family-run CDH Racing privateer team since 2006 when he broke into the British 125GP Championship, Dean is understandably incredibly proud of his team’s successes so far, often competing (and winning) against outfits with much larger budgets.

Dean was supplied with EBC Brakes’ GPFAX sintered race pads for the 2019 season, which he gives us his honest thoughts on below.

“The EBC GPFAX brake pads we used on our Kawasaki ZX-10RR superbike proved to be an excellent and important part in our 2019 season.

“The pads proved to be consistent in all conditions throughout the year – we used them in the pouring rain and baking hot sun (hard to believe in BSB, I know!).

“Initial ‘bite’ compares to competitors once warm (a quick process) and a consistent feel is felt through to the apex.”

GPFAX Formula Sintered Race pads

The GPFAX Formula Sintered Race pads are a direct replacement of the GPFA series. This formula is even higher in friction and created specifically to be used only on asphalt surfaces such as those found in race track conditions. Because of the super performance that they provide, these brake pads are a growing favourite choice of superbike racers. Another benefit of the GPFAX sintered material is that it now has even better heat cycling ability allowing the brake pads to be raced, cooled, then raced again.
