The action-packed race raised money for local charities

On Tuesday, 7 February, two teams from EBC Brakes’ global HQ in Northampton competed in the annual RoKart charity go karting event at the local Teamworks Northampton karting centre.

The Rotary Club of Nene Valley has organised RoKart for the last seven years, and has now raised over £60,000 for local charities. This year, they raised money to support local domestic violence abuse charity, Eve, as well as cancer charity Lewis Foundation (also based in Northampton), as well as other Rotary projects. The format of the challenge was 10 heats of 10 teams (four-to-five drivers per team) with a final (sponsored by Michael Jones Jeweller) for the heat winners in April.

As always, the event was well organised by the Teamworks guys and the Rotary Club of Nene Valley.

The evening was very eventful for both teams, who had a mixture of experience in each team.

In EBC Brakes Team 1, we had Adam Hawkings, Ron Gibson, Tom Charman, Gavin Sutton and Glen Farrell.

In EBC Brakes Team 2 was Luke Noble, Stefan Goddard, Luca Delfino-Rice, Simon Cook and Gary Taylor.

The event started strong for EBC Brakes Team 2, with Luke Noble putting them on Pole with a great lap of 23.76 seconds. EBC Brakes Team 1 started in ninth position with a very competitive lap time of 24.15 seconds.

Team 1 had a great evening and managed to set some really good lap times. With many of the team having never been go karting before, they managed a good start to the race and put in some very consistent driving, along with a well-executed strategy and no penalties throughout the entire evening. However, the race didn’t go their way towards the end of the evening, and they finished in 10th position.

Team 2 had a great start to the event with a great battle with the New Duston Garage Team, but with some great driver changes and some very consistent lap times, the team managed to keep in first position for the entire race from start to finish and managed to finish with a five-lap lead over second position, with Stefan Goddard putting in the fastest lap of the event with a 23.43-second lap on lap 225.

A massive congratulations to all that took part in the event and well done to the two teams from EBC Brakes. EBC Brakes Team 2 will now be going through to the RoKart Final on 4 April.
