Simon Bucknell finds EBC Brakes Racing’s motorsport-developed friction material hard to fault

Motorsport technician and avid track driver, Simon Bucknell, admits he’s tried almost every single brake pad available for his DC5 Honda Integra Type R Mugen track car during his regular visits to race circuits across the UK.

Recently impressed with what both EBC’s Bluestuff and Orangestuff friction materials had to offer, he jumped at the chance to try EBC Brakes Racing’s all-new RP-1™ track-only pad for himself.

Taking his heavily modified Honda to a demanding Silverstone track day with the new pads installed, his findings really do speak for themselves, helping to explain why he was happy to score the product 10/10 in almost every category presented with:

“These are, by far, the best pads I have used. The likes of brake fade, premature pad wear/failure and a constant changing pedal feel and response have always been issues I’ve had to deal with in the past.

“In my opinion, RP-1™ pads are the best thing since sliced bread, and the last missing link that the car needed in order to compete in races.

“I am over the moon with them, and feel they were the last thing needed to develop the car. The only issue I had was one of the factory discs has now let go by cracking quite badly, but that’s not an issue as I was ready to replace them. I just need an EBC two-piece floating disc setup now!”
