During their work fighting crime around the Lockhart area of Texas, USA, the Lockhart Police Department recently noticed an issue during their on-road duties in their Ford Explorer interceptor vehicles.
When the going got particularly tough, it was apparent that a notably weak part of the car’s performance was the factory braking system, which appeared not to be up to the task of repeated heavy braking day in and day out.
Seeking to cut down on maintenance costs and find braking components that lasted longer and offered improved performance, the officers reached out to Nick Marquez – a member of EBC Brakes’ management team from the firm’s North American offices in Las Vegas.
After some in-depth discussions regarding the department’s exact requirements, some Bluestuff pads and performance rotors were soon on their way over to Lockhart to be fitted to the axles of the Ford Explorers.
A spokesperson from the Lockhart Police Department picks up on the story from here:
“EBC Brakes decided to sponsor the Lockhart Police Department by sending a set of its Bluestuff pads specifically made for the Police Explorer, and rotors for our police vehicle.
“They have been amazing to talk to, and when I voiced my concerns, they immediately answered the call by helping us with our braking needs.
“Bluestuff pads are not even offered for the Police Explorer yet, so we have the first set!
“They are an awesome company and I look forward to the results of my tests and how well these will perform! Thanks again, Nicholas!”
Stay tuned to find out how the new components perform when tested in some of the most extreme conditions the officers experience.
