The regular NLR racer uses XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes
Motorcycle racer Russell Brook, from Brook Built Racing, is currently competing in the 2024 No Limits Racing (NLR) race series on a Aprilia RS660 and Yamaha R6.
During a short gap between races, Brook decided to keep his eye in by entering a guest North East Motorcycle Racing Club (NEMRC) race at Darlington’s Croft Circuit.
Brook entrusts EBC Brakes Racing’s XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes. You can read how his weekend went down in his own words below.
“Between the Snetterton and Donington rounds with NLR, I decided to race with NEMRC in their season-opening round at Croft coming home with a second and three thirds.
“Testing started OK, but it rained in the next session, so getting familiar with the bike and track didn’t go forward as planned, but any seat time is good.
“Just before qualifying, a fuel spillage most of the way around the track happened in the previous session. Qualifying got underway after a short delay.
“Qualifying didn’t go too well; the fuel spillage was at the top of my mind, and I could only manage 25th position.
“A few hours later, Race 1 was mainly dry, and I managed to get up to 9th on track (5th in class) before the chequered flag. This set me up much higher on the grid for Race 2.”
“Race 2 was again in good weather conditions. Coming from the 3rd row, I managed to end the first lap in 3rd; I stayed in this position until the finish. However, something must have happened to one of the first two riders as they didn’t finish, and I got 2nd on track and 2nd in class.
“Race 3 the following day was dry but much more windy. Starting 2nd on the grid, I held 2nd on track until about mid-race; I got passed by the rider who retired from Race 2, who must have had a poor grid. I understand he went on to win, while I finished 3rd on track and 3rd in class.
“Race 4 was a dry start, but mental rain spots mid-race meant I didn’t push as hard in some areas, and my pace dropped off a bit; I finished 3rd on track and 3rd in class.
“This was a nice meeting run by a great club, and it set me up well for NLR round 2 at Donington next weekend.”
